Friday Post
Today I will be blogging about the newly posted videos on our class blog.
On the first video titled: "Networked Student", I thought that was a great idea for classes I would have liked to have some classes like that, since I am more of an technology based person I think. I did not know they had a "Google Scholar" which I will probably use for my research or at least try it out.
On the second video titled: "Google Reader", I use "Google Reader" so I did not learn anything new from this, but it's nice that they do have tutorials for people who don't know how to work it or don't use computer much.

Video Is Finished
Today Justin and I have finished our video up today we edited it and I believe it looks pretty good. This video is something we thought was a little comedic and hope you guys do as well. For those people who know what the Red Ring of Death (RROD) you may get a laugh out of this. It was fun making this video, with the various bloopers we had in each scene to get it right. Hope you guys have fun watching. And I will post it next class.

Monday's Post
Today during class we worked on our project by writing our script for our video. We are borrowing a "Flip" camera + a tripod and recording after school. We thought of a new idea rather than a what we were doing which was problems and advantages of texting. Hope it works out like we thought it out.

Thursday Post
Today in class me and Justin worked on our project in masher since it was running today, but we ran into a variety of problems and are going to have to do it in iMovie or something similar to it. We are doing our video about the advantages and problems with texting. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I also looked real quick on "Cnet.com" and found something that caught my interest.
For those of you who use "Hulu" or have an Xbox 360 you may want to look at this.

Tuesday Blog
Those two videos on the class blog was pretty interesting like the first video the public learning network video the way everything is organize is pretty neat on "Symbaloo".I made an account and looked around and it looks like something I would actually use it helps you manage your bookmarks easier. And you can put whatever in each tile on your page like she uses "Evernote" which is the same context as "Diigo".
Now the other video about the principle wanting middle school kids to not use "Facebook" and all those social media sites, this is sort of true kids in the 4th,5th,6th grade don't really need to be on "Facebook" but I don't believe there is a rule to how old you have to be that I know of. Even if kids are that young on "Facebook" getting bullied on the internet or in other terms "Cyber Bullied". Why can't they just block the people pestering them and not have to worry about it. Now I wouldn't want to exactly ban middle grade kids from social media sites because it's basically this generation is going to be based on along with up and coming technology. These kids need to learn about these sites, but not use them too much.

Wednesday Post
Today we learned about twitter it's pretty interesting even though I have never had plans to use it. It's kind of nice to follow my favorite TV stars or Youtube people like @RayWJ, @nicepeter etc and they tweet when they have new videos or to talk to fans. I might use this every once in a while to see what people are doing.

Technology and Me
One technology I couldn't live without would probably be my phone. With it I can easily contact anyone I know in just a few seconds. To make plans etc. And you can do this just about anywhere rather than how it used to have to be done by home phone or e-mail. You can do many things from your phone just like you could on your computer phones have apps for "Facebook", "Twitter" and if you phone gets internet you got "Youtube", e-mail, and many others.

Monday's Post
Today's class I looked at some of my alerts and found a few interesting things like information about "Windows 8", and how we have a new way to make crude oil. We have started making oil out of recycled plastic just like we do with some clothing and carpets. And now they have finally made a program that alerts you when someone is keylogging you (for those who don't know what keylogging is: Keylogging from what I know is basically where someone watches your screen and they have a program to show them what you are typing even your passwords). Sadly I don't have the links, but you can find those stories on "Cnet.com" in the latest news tab. I also watched the tutorial on "Screencast-O-Matic" and it seems pretty simple I am going to work on that at home and put it on Youtube and put it on my blog unless they have the embed code.

Social Networking
How I describe it: I think Social Networking is an interaction between friends and family in real time, no waiting on a return e-mail or waiting for somebody to text back. For example facebook you can talk to multiple people at once without having to go back open up another e-mail etc, Now e-mail sites like MSN or Yahoo! have their own messengers, but people are more into facebook and all those sites because all their friends are right there and not everybody has a MSN or Yahoo!. There's also other form of Social Networking such as Youtube you can make videos for possibly millions of other people to see and they can comment on it. There are many more Social Networking sites such as Myspace, Twitter, etc and the list goes on and on.
How I am involved in it: I am not involved in Social Networking near as much as most people like my family and friends. I don't do facebook, Myspace or sites like that because basically I have a cell phone and that's all I need to talk to people. I see my parents on facebook for mindless hours but I understand people want to talk to their friends, but it's a little much. I do get involved and some Social Networking like Youtube, I did make a channel for it, but I have yet to really get into uploading videos a lot. Youtube for me is basically just watching videos when i'm bored or if someone I do like to watch on Youtube like Raywilliamjohnson has made a new video I'll watch it. The only other Social Networking others than texting I am involved in if you count it would be if I was playing Xbox and talking to Justin or whoever over the Xbox.
How it effects me: Social Networking effects me in several ways it can connect me with friends I have not talked to in a while fairly easily. Or if I need to ask my parents something you don't have to go all the way home to ask you just simply text them. Social Networking can also make you a lot of new friends that you may never meet, but having those friends to talk to and have a good time with is what counts. You turn on your Xbox and you got people to play a game with rather than by yourself which can get pretty boring. Social Networking just all around makes things so much better than it used to be.

Tuesday's Post
Today I have messed with jamstudio.com some more and figured out what I am going to do on my screencast or whatever I use.
I started writing a script for my video so I don't just blank out on what I was going to say. It's a pretty cool website for up and coming music artists if that's what your into or want to do later in life. It's basically a cure for writers block or whatever the phrase is for musicians. I don't know a whole lot about all the notes in music, but if you mess around enough with it you come up with a decent sounding beat.
I tried to make a beat or two and finished a couple so I could have an example/sample in my video. And we'll see how that goes next class.

Weekly Post
The site i'm working on is JamStudio.com for the Web 2.0 tool, basically it's a webpage where you can make your own music kind of like garageband that's on the mac, but without buying or downloading files. Even though you can buy a "vip pass" for JamStudio.com so you can use all of the beats and notes to make your music. Some people have actually made record deals from using JamStudio.com. I messed with it a bit and made a couple test songs to see what I could make. Even without the "vip pass" you can make decent music.
Now on the other hand spring break is just minutes away and i'm ready for it even though I have no idea what I might do during the time. It's just nice to be out of school and relax for a while.

Technology topic
Technology helps me nearly everyday in my education, example is my Ipod you can download apps like unit converters, dictionaries, and it comes with a calculator. Others things such as the internet help you so much in education even though some may be unreliable you just have to know what to search for. Technology would make learning easier and it does because say you don't want to get a notebook and pencil out to take notes. Your ipod has a notes app and you can just type it on your ipod plus it's a bit faster to do it that way in my opinion. It helps you get a lot more organized than looking around your backpack for that one piece of paper you put your notes on. With the Ipod you can set a title for each note so you just open the app and look for the right title. It makes everything much more simple than taking notes used to be. So I believe technology does have a lot to do with my education.

Another blog post
Finished my google search stories as seen on the post below this one. I have also found something interesting on my alerts about all the stuff happening in Japan pretty much they send in these robots that can climb debris and whatever is in the way then it has a snake like camera that can navigate through debris and search houses that would normally take a while to clear their way to i'm not going to explain the whole article, but if you want to read the entire article here's a link: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20042945-1.html?tag=cnetRiver

This weeks progress
I have completed my presi it's posted below, also this week I was introduced to a couple interesting new websites such as "Glogster" and "Wordle". Glogster I don't know to much about it yet so I can explain what it really is. On the other hand Wordle is something I did try out, Wordle is a website where you can take a speech or anything you want copy and paste it into the text box hit go and it will bring up the words in these crazy patterns and the words that are used the most in the speech is bigger than the rest. Which means you can easily find the meaning of a speech you may not understand pretty easy.

My weekly post
Lately I have been using "Diigo" alot I don't know about the rest of you but I do find this extremely helpful . And I know ill be using this after high school. Now we also looked at a new website that you make awesome presentations on called "Prezi" I am already fond on this website from being in a different class, but beside that fact it's still my favorite thing to make presentations on (much better than "Microsoft Powerpoint" in my opinion). This week I am well into my presentation about Copyrights and hope you get it done soon.
